Former Red Star Amanda Lee Appears in Rotterdam: Taiwanese Beauties Dance in Nightclubs for Free Drinks

Hong Kong director Scud was invited to participate in the 2024 Rotterdam Film Festival’s “Focus Filmmakers” section. He personally invited 37 actors who had appeared in his works to join him. Amanda Lee, a 53-year-old Hong Kong star who had previously visited Taiwan to release albums, expressed her desire to develop her career in Taiwan. Taiwanese beauties Karen Huang and Lina Tsai made consecutive appearances in sexy dresses, and their dance charm at nightclubs prompted the DJ to shout, “Welcome to Taiwan!”

Amanda Lee, once a popular singer who released 18 albums, including the Mandarin album “Singing on the Roof,” currently serves as a judge on singing competition shows and has organized painting exhibitions. She has always been interested in Taiwan’s entertainment industry and expressed her willingness to try filming movies or music works, discussing collaboration with Taiwanese producer Liu Xiangqi during this trip.

Amanda Lee watched her old friend Scud bring all his films onto the international stage with excitement, saying, “Filmmaking is a career where you have to solve many difficulties every minute. He has made these ten films, successfully conquering film festivals and audiences. I’m really happy for him.” Scud revealed that this wasn’t their first time going to international film festivals together. “We received the Art Achievement Award together in Philadelphia.”

“Karen Huang, the ‘Guoguang Goddess,’ participated in “Plato vs Pasolini” and “Ghosts just want to have fun”. She said happily, ‘The actors participating in the director’s works this time come from Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Australia, and Germany. It’s rare for us to gather like this. We lived together, ate together, sent movie postcards together, and answered questions after the screening together. There was so much togetherness, and the bond is truly different.'” Lina Tsai, who used to be a nightclub dancer, showed her dance charm with Taiwanese actor Huang Wei kai at a local nightclub, attracting cheers from the audience. The DJ played songs by Jolin Tsai and repeatedly welcomed the Taiwanese group, and the entire venue was eventually treated to free drinks.

Adonis He, who appeared in five films including “Plato vs Pasolini” and “Ghosts just want to have fun”，watched his first film directed by Scud, “Utopians,” on the big screen in Rotterdam after nearly 10 years. Seeing his own nudity at the time, he said, “Looking at it again from a purely audience perspective, I really like the natural youthfulness of my body at that time, without much fitness.” He also celebrated his 35th birthday with a team of nearly 50 people on and off stage.

Eric East, who collaborated with Adonis He in “Adonis, aka Thirty Years of Adonis”，has almost disappeared from the screen after performing in explicit scenes in the past. He revealed that he is currently working in finance and translation in California. Scud joked, “He used to be an international superstar in a certain genre of film, but after ‘turning over a new leaf,’ he starred in my movie and stood on the Rotterdam stage. It’s quite a story.” Scud’s new works, “Plato vs Pasolini” and “Ghosts just want to have fun” are scheduled to be released in Taiwan in the middle of the year.
